Expansion of arts and culture in the region

Art and culture play a pivotal role in the development of critical thinking within a society. Kittitian Hill will originate and facilitate a number of initiatives, located for the most part within the village, and amongst which;

Community Media Unit; is being created to train aspiring local filmmakers in the art and commerce of contemporary media. Projects will range from oral history archival documentary to commercial photographic and film projects.

Film Institute; courses will be offered to emerging local and regional directors, producers and script writers, developed in association with a recognized institution.

Postproduction & Multimedia Lab; will provide commercial film and television producers/directors with state of the art facilities including a screening room, editing suites, and a multi-media lab.

Visual Arts Workshops; local, regional and international artists will be able to participate in residency workshops in the field of visual arts. The program will provide travel, room, board and a stipend for each participant.

Arts & Crafts; local and regional people will be offered apprenticeships with master artists to train in various arts and crafts disciplines. Studios will have shop-fronts for selling the work and allow customers to see the artists at work.

Gallery; exhibitions will draw from the local, regional and international contemporary art communities. A service will also be established that curates art into the residences and public spaces for sale.

Festivals & Exhibitions; the village contains a cinema, town hall, exhibition hall and amphitheater, all of which will be used to host a series of festivals: Film & New Media, Spoken Word & Literary, Music & Visual Arts.

Culinary Arts; along with the Edible Landscapes program below, this program aims to protect food traditions by rediscovering and promoting both local ingredients that are at risk of extinction and their related Caribbean recipes, both traditional and modern. A number of restaurants in the village will be founded upon this ethos.
