Bill Bensley is one of Architectural Digest’s Top 100 architects and interior designers. He was raised in Southern California, educated at Harvard and is now based in Bangkok, where he oversees a 45-member architecture, interior and landscape design firm that specialises in exotic luxury resorts. Although Bill worked as a landscape architect for 20 years before discovering his talent for architecture, collaborating with such prominent architects as Norman Foster, he believes that distinctions between disciplines are largely immaterial. Bill and his team have tremendous attention to detail and are “designers of environments”, from the architecture and gardens down to the napkin rings and signage. As a landscape architect Bill was taught to protect the earth and the environment, and as an architect he continues to do the same. He has designed luxury resorts from Hawaii to the Seychelles, Mauritius, Cambodia and Thailand, among them the Four Seasons Koh Samui and the Tented Camp, Chiang Rai.
